I bought this knife almost a year ago and I'm very happy with it. Its well worth the money and is one of my best knives. If your serious about buying this knife check out some of the good reviews of it on YouTube. I would buy this knife again and I'm always happy with Gerber products.
I purchased this knife and conducted a fairly grueling test of it on an extended camping trip.
It got put to heavy use chopping branches and splitting firewood, cutting food, pounding tent stakes, being treated roughly, and left in water overnight.
It did marvelously. The other knives I have tested this way took a severe beating, but this one held up. The edge is great, even after chopping wood. The sharpener works well (though it is a bit fussy to get to). It pounded stakes better than anything but a mallet, and it was completely unfazed by being left under water.
The sheath is not my favorite, and it actually damaged the knife more than my rough handling did. There were scrapes up and down the blade after only drawing it twice (before it even got used), and the sheath messed up the handle a bit where it grips. Other than that, the sheath protected the knife well when going through heavy brush and it was secure even inverted. No issues there.
