First off, this was supposed to be delivered through UPS, instead it was delivered through regular mail (USPS).
Second, packaging was good, no complaints there.
Third, the knife itself: Nice knife, sharp, free of rust, clean. Handle is comfortable and seems sturdy. Good sheath.
Fourth, The survival kit is not up to par. I had a rusty needle, the fishing line and the hooks won't work together. Hooks are for catching minnows and smaller fish, while the line looks to be for catching large bass or big game fish. Matches looked good, compass wasn't working right, everything is North apparently.
Overall, The knife itself is worth the money, but the "survival kit" isn't worth much. I won't be returning it simply because the knife itself is nice enough for the price.
If you're really looking for a good knife with great survival kit, this is NOT it. But a good knife in of itself.
I really wanted to give this a better review but just cant.
The construction is fairly solid however the tang is a single block pole and the knife arrived with obvious signs of previous use. The sheath was stripped. The rubber treads where partially damaged, the wetstone had been previously used and the but of the blade had tree sap on it. (which i washed off)
The blade also arrived with a meager dull edge. I will be sending this back to amazon and /MC as requested as soon as its replacement arrives.
Hopefully the replacement has a much sharper blade and no damage to the knife or sheath this time around.
We shall see.
SEPT 29 UPDATE:
My replacement came in, better than the first shipment. Sharper blade. No tearing in the sleeve and very little if any signs of previous use.
I noticed that the replacement is also lighter than the original, the first one seemed incredibly heavy.
Which may be because of the finer blade.(then again that might just be me)
All in all im appreciative of the service from amazon and will be updating the review of the product from 2 stars to 4. (one extra star that i normally would because of the service and overnight delivery of the replacement)
However the packaging was still appallingly large.
(A complete waist of packaging offering little protection where needed most.)
Bottom line: For the price a great product and would buy it again.
