About six months ago I purchased five of these knives for groomsmen gifts for my wedding (why go with something lame like cufflinks or something?) I purchased them because they were all silver and seemed to be at a good price.
CONSTRUCTION QUALITY
Let me start off by saying that they are definitely durable. I have used mine (I got one for myself too) extensively and it has stayed solid and surprisingly sharp during this whole time! The kit that comes inside them is not too bad, although having not used any of it so far I cannot comment. I will say that some of the edges (particularly around the top of the knife that unscrews) are a little rough and not very well filed. I will say, however that this was a problem in only 2 of the 5 that I purchased. The sheath that it comes with is well built, and the sharpening stone is...well just that. It sharpens and it is hard...the end.
FUNCTIONALITY
Like I said, I can't really comment on the survival kit that comes with it, but you cant really go wrong with fishing line and a bent piece of metal for fishing hooks right? I am a little dubious as to whether the compass is entirely accurate. I think it may be that it doesn't have enough room to move as freely as it should, however is mostly right.
PRICE
This price is pretty unbeatable and I would definitely pay it again, seeing as this has already lasted through 6 months of beatings, even if it gave out at a year I would consider it worth it!
Overall this is a worthy purchase and out of the 5 that I purchased, NONE have had any real problems. This isn't a Gerber or anything like that, but it is sharp and sturdy and that's enough for me.
Good sturdy knife. Mine came w/ a black handle instead of silver but I kind of like it better. The lanyard hole is small (in order to fit 550 in lanyard hole you must remove nylon string from center of cord) and the sheath is a little loose. I wrapped in 550 para cord which made the handle fit the sheath a bit better. Overall good (but not great) knife.
