I had really hoped to give this knife a 5 star review. Unfortunately, it falls a bit short of my expectations.
When Schrade came out with the SCHF1 knives, they were a little too long, and had a partially serrated blade (which is difficult to sharpen, and creates a weak point).
Those problems were addressed with this new knife, the SCHF1SM. The blade is the perfect length, and the serrations are gone.
But, they also made the handle shorter, and thinner. This means that you can stuff fewer items into the handle storage.
If you're listening, Schrade, make one of these knives with the original (SCHF1)handle size, small (SCHF1SM) blade length, and no serrations, and you will have a serious winner. Also, omit the screwdriver kit to keep costs lower (especially the magnet in the end cap) and include a compass inside the end cap.
It's a nice screwdriver kit, but nobody is going to be carrying a knife that big anywhere they would frequently encounter nuts and bolts. That's what multi tools are for. Fill the handle with matches, fishooks, snare wire, sinkers, etc., classic survival knife contents.
Very soild knife well worth the price, dont know why they put the screw bits in there seems pointless so i took them out and put a ferro rod inside very happy! Will probly buy another
