This Whetstone Cutlery "Survival Knife" is actually a fairly good kit of basic survival gear packed into the sheath and knife handle. I picked this up at a different site on sale and I'm not sure that it I would pay the asking price here, but here are my observations:
Main Knife -
+ Fairly heavy with a large grip that feels good in hand
+ Blade is large but ships somewhat dull but takes an edge with a little work
+ Saw on blade spine is surprisingly good
Survival Gear In Knife Handle -
+ Compass under the cap is OK, points "North"
+ Various small bits include a band-aid, tweezers, safety pin, matches, razor blade, etc
Belt Sheath -
+ Can fit on very large belts
+ Large plastic sheath with fabric retaining straps for the knife hilt
+ Includes leg strap for securing sheath
+ Has a good amount of cord wrapped around the sheath
+ Plastic divider includes messaging instructions, signaling mirror, slingshot, and large metal mirror
Small Knife -
+ All metal with a cord lanyard
+ Comes fairly dull, needs careful sharpening.
+ Includes bottle opener and skinning blade
This isn't a bad kit for the car, backpack, or perhaps for the teen camper, but I wouldn't count on this as my only survival equipment.
