Customer Reviews

I've been wanting one of these for a while. This knifes history in the USMC speaks for itself and if a knife is almost marine proof, it's a whole lot more than your ever gonna need. And for [...] bucks that's hard to beat. Not to mention unlike it's cousin the KaBar USMC, it comes with a more modern handle material and sheath which make it an even tougher option in my opinion. Over all it's a great knife to own and after about 4 weeks of using it for everything from batoning wood to opening mail I'd highly recommend this knife to anyone who asked me :)
Now as you can see I am a fan of this blade, but there are a few things you should know if you plan to purchase it.
1. It comes sharp enough, but if your a long time collector or user of knives(or both)You'll want to touch it up. It's just a little under the "Shaving sharp" standard most people go by these days.
2.It's NOT made with stainless steel, which I knew before hand but most of my friends were shocked that all knives weren't made of stainless, so i feel obligated to tell you that it's composed of 1095 High Carbon steel which is a tool steel,is easy to sharpen, and is harder than quite a few stainless options.
But you will need to periodically maintain the blade with oil.
3.Get the Kydex sheath. I went with the leather option and while it is more pleasing to the eye(In My Opinion)It's not going to last as long and it doesn't give you as many options for carry. I purchased the kydex sheath through Amazon for around 15$ and it is much more comfortable
Overall, it's a great knife and I highly recommend it.

The great people at Cutco in Olean, New York produce this wonderful Knife. If you have seen the History Channel episode about Cutlery you have seen them. Cutco is a top notch company that produces some of the finest knives in the world, all American Made by great AMERICANS! These blades are cryogenicaly frozen to sub zero temps that turn basketballs into shatering glass. This process brings the molcules of the steel into a more tighter and stronger bond. This is tool steel, better than "Stainless Steel" in many ways. Sure you have to oil the blade every so often, it builds character ok. I oil my rifles for the same reason. This steel is all buisness, and the knife is all buisness. It simply works, and is practically the same design that has worked since WWII. Paratroopers use it, Marines use it. It is still used and still much prefered equipment among the ranks of our Military. Thinking about this knife? Remember this, you will never be sorry for buying the best tools, never. There are many imitations, but there is only one true Ka Bar.
