Customer Reviews

I believe in keeping this review simple.
Not a survival knife
Ok for boyscout type use, or simple camping, mild and light use.
Edges will take work.

I got this knife at our local army navy store super excited of having payed not much for the real pilot survival knife. What i had forgotten was that the real one is made by Ontario not rothco... That being said I am surprised at how the knife performed as i was testing it. I am sure it will not stand up to the immense durability of the Ontario version seeing as it is twice the price, but the rothco clone held it's own batoning firewood and hacking through logs. As far as i can tell this knife will hold up to my uses well, and I am curious to find an ontario one to compare it too.
The only problem I have with this knife is the sheath... It is very loose and the retention strap leaves about 1/4 inch of space between itself and the handle rendering it as close to useless as possible... Im sure hat in the Ontario version that would not be a problem. also there is a rivet in the middle of the sheath that scratches the knife as you draw or return the knife to the sheath.
So far I am happy with this knife and haven't encountered any major issues. I would recommend this for a low budget camp knife, but if you expect to be betting your life on he knife I would definitely spend the extra bucks since ive seen someone baton cement block and stand on the handle of the Ontario Pilot survival knife when it was between two boards of wood... that knife can take a beating,
